candle junkie and fragrance connoisseur

Lisa Smith started out as a high school science teacher. After losing most of her eyesight, she left teaching and began a transition into the world of vision loss.

It was not an easy journey (did someone say angry & bitter?). With the support of friends and family and skills learned from The Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, she decided it was time to start a new venture.

Forage was born of a deep love for the Southern Appalachian Mountains, a moderately healthy obsession with candles, and an aversion to sitting on the couch feeling sorry for herself.

Forage is honored to be the recipient of the 2018 Hadley New Venture Competition Award.
